Science Quest
This Science Quest series complements the Geography Quest series and the History Quest series to provide a comprehensive programme of S.E.S.E. activities for children.
The series reflects the changes in content, structure and teaching approaches contained in the science component of the S.E.S.E. Primary School Curriculum.
It introduces children to basic scientific concepts, using experiments that are easy and safe to carry out in a classroom setting. The experiments are pitched at a level appropriate to each class. All experiments have been tried and tested in classrooms by experienced teachers.
Each chapter contains Helpful Hints for teachers to pre-empt any difficulties that may arise. The setting the scene section of each chapter outlines the objectives to be addressed in each chapter. Very little expenditure is required by teachers or pupils for experiment equipment because every day objects are generally employed throughout the series.

Science Quest 1
This is a simple and fun introduction for young children into the work of science. The language used is very basic and integrates well with the English Programme so as not to distract from the scientific content of the experiments.
-
Science Quest 2
Builds on the basic ideas dealt with in Book 1 at an age appropriate level. In the 11 experiments the children are encouraged to predict outcomes before carrying out simple and interesting experiments involving bubbles, making rainbows, seeing how plants need oxygen, air in balloons etc.
-
Science Quest 3
In the 20 experiments new ideas are explored in a fun style. The experiments are easy to conduct but have greater scientific depth than heretofore.
-
Science Quest 4
Again, there are 20 fun-filled experiments with an assessment section at the end of the book. There are more class challenges introduced but the joy and excitement for the children continues.
-
Science Quest 5
The children are challenged to think more as scientists as the hands-on approach continues. The 19 interesting experiments are following by 5 pages of quiz questions at the end of the book.
-
Science Quest 6
The children continue critical scientific thinking and become prepared for further scientific investigation in their Second Level Science programme.
